Alison Taylor

Managing Director, Business for Social Responsibility (BSR)

I work on challenges at the intersection of corporate integrity, risk and responsibility, currently by leading the sustainability management practice at BSR, and teaching an innovative, multidisciplinary class called ‘Risk and Responsibility in Organizations’ at Fordham Law School in New York (cross-listed in the Gabelli Business School). My team at BSR works with our member companies on strategy, ethics and governance, stakeholder engagement, reporting and transparency. Here’s my BSR profile: I have a long track record of consulting for large multinationals on strategy, sustainability, social impact, risk management, human rights, ethics and compliance, stakeholder engagement, ESG, and anti-corruption. I regularly speak and write on all these subjects, including articles in Harvard Business Review, Quartz, Forbes, and GreenBiz, guest lectures at NYU, Tufts University Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Brown University, Duke University Fuqua School of Business, and Bard College. I often present and speak on panels at conferences and corporate events. Examples of recent project work include: - Designing comprehensive ESG strategies, policies, processes and tools for large investment banks and private equity firms; - A market entry strategy for an energy company in Myanmar, including assessment of social and political risk, human rights impacts, community investment; - Sustainability strategy for multinational pharmaceutical companies, including alignment with enterprise risk management approaches and priorities; - Stakeholder engagement on community standards for a global social media platform; - Member of Expert Panel to the UK government on improving business integrity and anti-corruption efforts in small and medium-sized enterprises, with a focus on frontier markets.
