Prometheus Fuels is a venture-backed energy company based in the US that makes one of the world’s only carbon-neutral e-fuels that can compete with fossil fuels on price – without subsidies. Using a novel e-fuel production process that runs entirely on 100% renewable electricity, the company turns atmospheric CO2 into zero net carbon petrol, diesel, jet fuel, and renewable natural gas. Founded in 2019 and launched from start-up accelerator Y Combinator, Prometheus is the world’s first e-fuel unicorn (start-up valued at over $1 billion), backed by transportation leaders Maersk Growth and BMW i Ventures, with customers including American Airlines.
