Headquartered in Johannesburg, AngloGold Ashanti has 21 operations in 10 countries on four continents, and several exploration programmes in the established and new gold producing regions of the world. It employed 65,822 people, including contractors, in 2012 and produced 3.94 million ounces of gold, generating $6.4 billion in gold income, excluding joint ventures. Capital expenditure in 2012 amounted to $1.9 billion. As at 31 December 2012, it had an attributable ore reserve of 74.1 million ounces and an attributable mineral resource of 241.5 million ounces.
