Zvika Krieger

Director, Responsible Innovation, Meta

Zvika Krieger is the Director of Responsible Innovation at Facebook, where he supports product teams—across Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus, and more — to anticipate and minimize any potential unintended negative impacts of new technologies and ensure we are building responsibly.

Prior to joining Facebook, Zvika served in government and worked as a journalist, both of which gave him a deep-rooted perspective into how emerging technology trends impact people's lives globally. Most recently, he served on the Executive Committee of the World Economic Forum, where he launched Centres for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in 13 countries to accelerate the adoption of new technologies in the global public interest. He also served as the first-ever U.S. Department of State Representative to Silicon Valley as well as a Strategist in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. In these positions, he led initiatives that utilized strategic foresight to drive innovative solutions to complex international challenges—including climate change, refugee assistance and the countering of violent extremism—and also planned for the impact of emerging technologies, such as blockchain, gene editing, and artificial intelligence.

Before joining government, Krieger spent almost a decade as a journalist, including as a foreign policy correspondent at The Atlantic, editor and writer at The New Republic, and Middle East correspondent for Newsweek. He has taught design, innovation, and policy at Stanford, UC Berkeley, and the Rhode Island School of Design and has a bachelor's degree from Yale University.
