Puninda Thind

Global Shaper, Toronto Hub,

Puninda Thind serves as the Finance Nature Lead with the UN Climate Champions team, focusing on catalyzing finance sector action to address nature-related risks and leverage value creation opportunities to increase financial flows towards nature-based solutions.

For the last decade, she has worked at the intersection of sustainable investing and climate resilience. At BentallGreenOak, one of the largest global real estate investment advisors, she spearheaded the implementation of the organization’s ESG strategy and reporting. She also led the project team that conducted one of the largest ESG-focused surveys of global real estate investors, in collaboration with United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI).

Most recently, as a Senior Sustainability Consultant, she helped private sector clients, including large Canadian banks, investment managers, mining, and consumer goods companies, prepare climate strategies and develop disclosures aligned with leading and emerging global reporting frameworks and standards, including, TCFD, SASB, GRI Standard and IIRC.

She holds a Bachelors of Environment and Business (Honours) from the University of Waterloo and a MSc Sustainability, Enterprise, and Environment from the University of Oxford. Puninda has been previously named as one of Canada’s top 30 under 30 sustainability leaders and one of Canada’s top 25 environmentalists under 25.
