Farid Ben Amor

Farid was Knowledge and Community Lead, Future of Information and Entertainment Initiative at the World Economic Forum. Previously, he was director of strategic development for Fusion Media Group. Prior to Fusion, Farid led business development and content acquisition for the online video service Pluto TV and worked at DIRECTV, where he developed digital product strategies and acquired programming and content for satellite and Internet services. Previously, he worked at Warner Bros in international television distribution. He has been recognized by the International Telecommunication Union, the Aspen Institute, Google, New York Law School, the T Howard Foundation, and the Internet Society, and serves on the US State Department’s International Telecommunication Advisory Committee as well as the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences' awards and interactive media executive committees.

Earlier in his career in Washington, Farid worked on several national policy and electoral campaigns, ranging from Obama for America to the creation of a digital divide project at ACORN, where his advocacy included the FCC and the White House. He also spent time in US Senate committee and member offices and attended Cornell University where he studied physics. He did graduate work at the University of Southern California, where he researched the media distribution business and telecommunication policy with Judge Daniel Brenner.
