Consultant on trade, investment and economic development. As former World Bank Senior Director of the Trade & Competitiveness Global Practice (2014-18), led the Bank's 500 people team on trade, investment, competitiveness, innovation and entrepreneurship. Previously, as Minister of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica (2010-14), led initiative to join the OECD, implemented six free trade agreements, enhanced the investment climate and contributed to the attraction of over 140 investment projects; also had a lead role in the Competitiveness and Innovation Council and chaired the Export Promotion Agency. Has held various positions including WTO Agriculture Division Director; IADB Senior International Consultant on Trade and Investment; Costa Rican Investment Promotion Board Director General. Former Chair, WEF Global Agenda Council on Trade & FDI, and former Chair, WEF Global Agenda Council on Competitiveness. Current member of WEF Global Future Council on Trade & FDI. Has written and presented in over 60 countries across the world.
